Max Verstappen recently got to drive
Red Bull's new car for the 2024 F1 season - the RB20, and he shared his impressions.
With the new Formula One season, the excitement always builds, especially around the new cars. New seasons can always shake up the order, and that's something fans are really excited about.
At the start of the 2023 season,
Aston Martin was unexpectedly strong, collecting multiple podiums, and because it was so unexpected, it was also very interesting for the fans.
Another unexpected thing that happened during the 2023 season was that Red Bull won all but one race, completely dominating the year. Although the team was considered to be the top favourite for the title, no one expected them to be so dominant.
Now, with the 2024 season ahead, fans are awaiting what will the teams bring to the
Bahrain Grand Prix, which is the first race of the new season. All of the teams have already revealed their new cars, including
Red Bull, who have presented their new RB20.
The first thing that everyone noticed was a different style of the side pods, which looked similar to what Mercedes did before, even though the Dutch driver
previously denied the design being Mercedes-style.
After unveiling the car, both drivers, Max Verstappen and
Sergio Perez, also got to drive the car at the
Silverstone Circuit, during a filming day, which the teams are allowed, as well as the shakedown, during which the drivers get a chance to observe how the car behaves for the first time.
After his first few laps in new RB20, Verstappen posted an update on Red Bull's Instagram, sharing his impressions from the new car. The team had to deal with rainy conditions, but despite that, the Dutchman felt "comfortable" in the new car.
"Just jumped out of the car, the first run in the RB20 today. It was a bit rainy day unfortunately but I think the first feelings are good, I felt comfortable."
Still, the three-time World Champion is aware that the main test will come in Bahrain, where the car will be compared to the other cars on the grid, and that's when Red Bull will really know where they stand.
"That's the most important, a lot of things are checked as well now I'm just looking forward to drive in Bahrain and really start to understand the car a bit more."
