Max Verstappen's manager, Raymond Vermeulen, answered questions about Verstappen's future in F1 and suggested he might stay with Red Bull until his retirement.
Max Verstappen has been ranked as the best F1 driver after the 2023 season by drivers, as well as team principals, in a poll conducted by Formula 1.
The Dutchman has had an amazing season during which he showcased he is not only fast, but also super consistent by finishing 27 out of 28 races (including Sprints) of the season on the podium.
Scuderia Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur said every single team principal would like to have the 26-year-old on his team. When Verstappen's manager Raymond Vermeulen was asked whether there has been some interest from other teams, he told formule1.nl:
"Why would Max make a switch right now? We are not interested in that. But it's a small world, everyone and everything talks to each other, but we have a commitment until 2028."
Verstappen is currently contracted to Red Bull until the end of the season 2028, which means no teams will probably approach him throughout this period.
On the other hand, as 2028 gets closer, the Dutchman might start receiving quite a few tempting offers from other teams. Vermeulen continued:
"And as you can see, Max is in the position of a lifetime, he is driving without pressure. Teammates? Let ‘em come: everyone gets equal machinery. And everyone is free to try to beat Max, right?"
Asked whether he sees the triple World Champion ever driving for some different team, Verstappen's manager first dismissed the question but then suggested he might stay with Red Bull.
"Let's worry about that in 2028. Maybe Max will be the first driver to start and stop at the same team. That could be another Verstappen story..."
Vermeulen said the 26-year-old driver might be the first ever to start and stop at the same team. However, Verstappen started his career in Toto Rosso (now AlphaTauri), which is a team that is owned by Red Bull but operates as a separate entity in F1.
This means the triple World Champion has already changed two teams in his career and won't break the record. On the other hand, he already set numerous incredible records throughout the 2023 season that put his name amongst the legends of the sport.
