Red Bull Racing driver
Max Verstappen responded honestly after being named one of the world's 100 most influential people.
Last year, Max Verstappen recorded the most successful season in the history of F1. He won the most races, achieved the most podiums, and
broke numerous incredible records (some even 70 years old).
The 26-year-old joined F1 as the youngest driver ever and went on to amass 57 wins, 101 podiums, 36 pole positions, and 32 fastest laps until now.
All his achievements, and mainly the most recent success (domination in 2022 and 2023), earned the triple World Champion a spot on The Times's top 100 most influential people list.
The top 100 most influential people list includes world leaders, entertainers, and other icons in various industries, and it is incredible to imagine that one of the F1 drivers made it there.
While Verstappen isn't the only F1 driver to make the list in all the years, there are only two more. Could you guess their names? It was
Michael Schumacher in 2005 and
Lewis Hamilton in 2020.
Despite being honored as only one of the three legendary drivers to make it into this prestigious list, Verstappen doesn't see it as anything special. As quoted by ESPN, he said:
"Yeah but what am I supposed to do with it... It doesn't make me a better person. It doesn't make me more proud of what I've achieved or what I still want to achieve."
The Flying Dutchman is notorious for his honest and straightforward statements, and it must be said that he stayed true to his character and didn't disappoint with his response. He added:
"Maybe it's a goal for other people but for me it's not about how influential you are. I continue to just be me and do my thing."
