Even though he broke almost every record imaginable during the 2023 season, Red Bull's Max Verstappen stated it was never about trying to break them.

The 2023 season is over, and Max Verstappen can now relax and look back at all his and his team's amazing achievements in the past 22 Grand Prix races.

The Dutchman recently admitted it hit him a bit while standing on the podium in Abu Dhabi as he realized what an amazing season it was after winning 19 out of 22 races with his RB19.

While many F1 fans usually see only Verstappen and his pit crew with the team principal on the TV screens, many more people stand behind the incredible success, and the 26-year-old said it has been enjoyable to work with every single one of them.

"This season we won a lot as a team, but also it's been really enjoyable to work with everyone inside the team."

Even after he sealed his championship win in Qatar, the triple World Champion kept on winning. In Fact, Verstappen won all the remaining races of the season despite having the Championship already in his pocket. He explained:

"Of course, once you're winning a few in a row, you want to keep that momentum going and the pressure is always on, you always want to do well."

The Dutchman broke numerous records such as for the most wins in the season, most points in the season, most consecutive wins, and many more. But he said he never focused on any of those, but only on giving the best performance he could.

"It was never about trying to break all these kind of records, [I was] just trying to do the best I could every single race weekend and enjoy it as well."

On the other hand, the Red Bull Racing driver did reveal he went for the record of leading more than 1000 laps in a season on purpose during the last race, as he already had the win in his pocket and could afford to go for a less optimal strategy. He concluded:

"You know these kind of great moments, they don't come along that often as well. It was a very, very good year."
