Carlos Sainz's current team principal at Ferrari, Frederic Vasseur, addressed the 29-year-old's new contract right after the official announcement on Monday, July 29th.
Although it took the 29-year-old a very long time to make the decision, he has finally made it, and now we know that he will be joining Williams after the end of the 2024 season.
Now that his future is clear, the 29-year-old said that his primary focus still remains on putting in the best performance at Ferrari and finishing his run with the Italian team on a high.
Sainz has a great relationship with everyone within the team from Maranello, including his teammate Charles Leclerc and the team principal Fred Vasseur. Both of them responded to the news of Sainz's contract and the latter one, Vasseur said:
"I am pleased that Carlos will be joining Williams Racing from next season. It's a team with a great history and legacy, founded by an enlightened man with an ambitious vision, so l know Carlos will feel at home there.:
Williams Racing is currently led by James Vowles (who brings his immense experience from Mercedes), and Fred Vasseur knows him well. He continued:
"I have great respect for James [Vowles], and I am sure Carlos will make a valuable contribution to his team."
Similar to the 29-year-old driver, Vasseur is looking forward to finishing the ten remaining race weekends of the 2024 season on a high. He added:
"For now, Carlos is still very much a Ferrari driver and, over the remaining ten races we will all be working hard, focusing on our goals, fighting together for every single point until the very last lap of this championship."
Ferrari lost some performance compared to its rivals in the last couple of races before the summer break and is currently in third place in the Constructors' Championship—63 points behind the leading Red Bull.
However, with margins between the teams so small, it is still very much possible for the team from Maranello to win the Constructors' title, which is what they and Sainz will try to do together.
