Carlos Sainz discussed what convinced him to sign a contract with
Williams after the long waiting period.

Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz knew from the start of the 2024 season that he wouldn't be able to continue with the Italian team after this year.
However, he tried to delay his decision on which team to sign with as long as possible. It took him 14 race weekends to decide, and on Monday, July 29th (after the Belgian Grand Prix), he finally announced the team for which he will be driving in 2025.
This Spanish driver signed a contract with Williams Racing, which means he will become
Alex Albon's new teammate and replace the American driver
Logan Sargeant.
The 29-year-old said:
"I am very happy to announce that I will be joining Williams Racing from 2025 onwards."
"It is no secret that this year's driver market has been exceptionally complex for various reasons and that it has taken me some time to announce my decision."
While Sainz took all the time he could before making the final decision, he asserted that it didn't mean he wasn't confident in Williams, and he named a few reasons why he signed.
"However, I am fully confident that Williams is the right place for me to continue my F1 journey and I am extremely proud of joining such a historic and successful team, where many of my childhood heroes drove in the past and made their mark on our sport."
"The ultimate goal of bringing Williams back to where it belongs, at the front of the grid, is a challenge that I embrace with excitement and positivity."
Williams used to be a very successful team. In its history, the team won seven Drivers' and nine Constructors Championships.
While the British team is far from competing for the podium at the moment, it is its mission to return to the top, and Sainz is looking forward to being a part of this journey.
"I am convinced that this team has all the right ingredients to make history again, and starting on January 1, I will give my absolute best to drive Williams forward alongside every single member of the team."
