Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff answered and discussed the situation between Lewis Hamilton and the rest of the team amid the looming exit.
Only eight Grand Prix weekends (including the 2024 Azerbaijan Grand Prix) remain before the seven-time F1 World Champion, Lewis Hamilton, leaves Mercedes.
The 39-year-old himself shared on social media how he had a small emotional realization about this after the end of the 2024 Italian Grand Prix when he was leaving Mercedes's motorhome.
The 16th round of the season at Monza Circuit was the last European race this year, which meant it was Hamilton's last day in his room in Mercedes's motorhome and engineering room (F1 teams use motorhomes only in Europe).
The Briton has been with Mercedes for so long that they broke a record for the longest team-driver pairing in the history of F1 this year (12 seasons).
Hamilton recently discussed how many labeled his decision to join Mercedes "the worst" and how it became the "best ever." It remains to be seen whether his decision to join Ferrari will be just as amazing.
The team principal of Mercedes, Toto Wolff, was asked whether he has spotted any change in the seven-time World Champion's demeanor in recent weeks, and he replied to media in Monza:
“"No, it's great. It's super productive, the way we work with each other. The spirits are high. We enjoy F1, all of us together."”
“"The relationships between Lewis and the team members have not at all been impacted, on the contrary. I feel there's a really, really good mood in all of us working together."”
Some of Mercedes's members felt betrayed when Hamilton announced he would leave the team to join Ferrari. However, everyone within the team united to finish the last season on a high.
While Hamilton won't be able to bring the team another Championship, he already scored two victories in Great Britain and Belgium and said he will keep doing his best until the final lap of the last race.
