Nico Rosberg analyzed the performance of Max Verstappen with Red Bull Racing and shared what he thought was possible for them to achieve.
Red Bull's F1 driver, Max Verstappen, wasn't very happy with how his latest Grand Prix race developed. Afterward, he made it clear he didn't think it was possible to win a Championship with such a level of performance.
The Dutchman could also have been seen punching his steering wheel after the first pit stop, which took more than six seconds. He already couldn't keep pace with the cars in front, but the messed-up pit stop complicated his race even more, and he was clearly frustrated. Nico Rosberg told Sky F1 podcast:
"He will be shocked. You can see him getting angry a lot. After the slow pitstop in Monza, he was hitting the steering wheel in the race."
"He is getting angry and impatient because he is only used to winning. The whole team is impatient, the stress levels rise, and the panic rises."
On the other hand, Rosberg pointed out that the 2024 Italian Grand Prix might just be an anomaly, as Red Bull was more competitive and finished second in the Netherlands.
"It's frustrating because they don't know what's going on, they don't understand. In Zandvoort, they still finished second fair and square."
"They had a good car, only beaten by Lando. Monza is a complete outlier so we shouldn't focus too much on the performance deltas."
What comes now is a doubleheader in Azerbaijan and Singapore, followed by a three-week break. The next two weekends will be critical for Red Bull, and while Rosberg doesn't see the team as the favorite, he believes second place should be achievable for them at the moment.
"Although, all the tracks coming up are outliers - Baku, Singapore… I still think he can race for second-place, maybe the odd win, in the next couple of races."
