Carlos Sainz stated his priority is to stay with his current team, Scuderia
Ferrari, even beyond the 2024 season.
Carlos Sainz's contract with Ferrari expires at the end of the 2024 season, and the F1 driver is currently in talks with the Italian team concerning the continuation of their collaboration.
The Spaniard mentioned his goal is to have a contract signed before the beginning of the next season so there is no uncertainty and he can perform. He also recently added that his priority is to stay with the team. As quoted by
motorsports.com, he said:
"My priority is to stay at Ferrari for many more years. I'm very happy, both parties are very happy and the objective is to continue, but we have to agree and we have these three months until the next race to reach that agreement."
Ferrari's team principal shares the same desire that Sainz does,
and while he said his team is in no hurry, he also wants to have everything solved before the first race on the second of March.
Sainz has enjoyed equal status with his teammate
Charles Leclerc, and if this kind of treatment continues, he would like to stay with the team for more than two seasons.
"Obviously I want to renew and I'd like to renew for more than one year, not just two. You know my intentions and honestly I feel perfectly valued by Fred and by the whole Ferrari family in general, I feel loved."
"Therefore, I will renew if I feel that way and I feel that I am valued. That as a driver that is the main priority. I am convinced that if we both want to, we will reach an agreement on a duration that I am happy with."
