Aston Martin driver
Fernando Alonso has been rumored to potentially replace
Sergio Perez in
Red Bull for the season 2024.
One of the latest rumors coming out of the paddock at
Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez said Fernando Alonso could potentially be on a candidate list for the Red Bull seat in 2024.
Rumors about a replacement for Sergio Perez seem more and more reasonable to people after watching yet another unsuccessful Grand Prix for the Mexican, who
caused a collision on the first lap and had to retire.
On the other hand, both Red Bull team principal
Christian Horner and
advisor Helmut Marko made it clear more than ever before to the media in Mexico City that Perez will drive for Red Bull in 2024.
Then you might ask, what fuels rumors like this? There are three essential things. One of them is the above-mentioned not improving the performance of Sergio Perez.
The second thing might be that people want to see Fernando Alonso in a Championship-contending car that we know is capable of winning races.
Many fans enjoyed seeing the Spanish driver score podiums and compete for the race wins at the beginning of the season when Aston Martin was more competitive.
The third reason might be that F1 fans want to see
Max Verstappen compared to a Championship Winner, somebody experienced that we know for sure is one of the best.
Max Verstappen has not yet competed against a Championship winner in the same car. While we know the Dutchman is one of the best on the grid, people still want to see him directly compared to somebody like Alonso or Hamilton.
`However, there is a very small chance of this happening as Horner already mentioned
he would not want two "alphas" in the same team. By saying that, he dismissed the possibility of Alonso or
Lewis Hamilton driving alongside the Flying Dutchman.
