After a successful season with Williams, Alex Albon has become one of the most sought-after drivers. Reportedly, two F1 teams are interested in the 27-year-old.
Alex Albon got his chance to shine in one of the top teams once before during seasons 2019 and 2020, but that didn't go well because he was not ready, as he himself admitted lately.
After two failed seasons with the team from Milton Keynes, it seemed like his career in F1 might be over. However, he was able to find a seat in Williams from season 2022.
The Thai driver outperformed his teammate 22-0 in the 2023 season, and thanks to his amazing performances, Williams ended the year in seventh place in the Championship.
The 27-year-old gained more experience and mainly confidence and has suddenly become "hot-property" in the driver market, as Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner said.
When Albon signed his contract with Williams ahead of the 2022 season, it was quoted as "multi-year." But different sources don't agree on whether that was until the end of season 2024 or 2025.
Lawrence Barretto recently suggested in his article on the official Formula 1 website that Williams is keen on keeping Albon beyond the season 2024 with mutual interest from the driver himself.
On the other hand, ESPN claims the 27-year-old is trying to free himself from the contract with his team that lasts until the end of the season 2025.
Two different F1 teams are supposedly interested in the Williams driver, with several others monitoring the situation. What could be the two teams that would make Albon want to get free from his contract with Williams?
The Thai driver recently said he feels ready and believes he deserves to fight for the podiums and race wins again. Currently, there are only two teams in the top four with available spots for 2024 - Red Bull and Ferrari. Could Albon make a surprise move to one of the top teams after 2024?
