Guenther Steiner responded to previous criticism of
Haas team owner Gene Haas in his first interview since his departure from the team.
Haas struggled with the performance of their cars for the last couple of years, and when the team finished dead last in the Championship last year, it was probably enough for the team owner, Gene Haas.
The former team principal reflected in his interview on the situation saying he knew his contract was up for renewal,
but he was hit by surprise to find out it wouldn't be renewed.
When talking about the departure of his team principal, Gene Haas also said he was "embarrassed" his team could not achieve better results despite strong support from Ferrari.
While it is true the team outsources many components from the Italian manufacturer, the problem might have been the fact that Haas was operating with one of the smallest budgets on the grid. In relation to the words of his former boss, Steiner told
Sky Sports:
"I think everybody can choose his words, but you need to think about the people who work for you and put a lot of effort in. Obviously, when you say these things in the end, you have to live with the consequences."
The key and real reflection of the truth will be the performance of the American team under the newly appointed team principal Ayao Komatsu.
The team owner suggested Komatsu has a more technical approach, which is different from the one that Guenther Steiner applied throughout the last eight seasons.
While Steiner is out of the sport for now, he mentioned he is open to new opportunities, and we might see him back in F1 in a while.
