F1 World Champion and former Mercedes driver
Nico Rosberg mentioned the name of a "dream candidate" for the second seat in the
Red Bull.
Nico Rosberg recently shared his opinion on both
Williams' drivers speaking for Sky F1. One of these drivers is
Logan Sargeant. The American came as a replacement for struggling Nicholas Latifi, whose performance was not up to the standard of his teammate
Alex Albon.
Drivers in their rookie season of Formula One usually need some time to adjust, and no high expectations are set for them. However, Sargeant has been miles of Alex Albon's pace and has not scored a single point throughout the season. Rosberg told Sky F1:
"Logan Sargeant [Albon’s Williams team-mate] is another one of those drivers who’s on shaky ground and really needs to prove himself, but he’s been making too many mistakes."
The Williams team faces a similar situation to Red Bull. Both teams have one driver who exceeds all expectations and one who delivers underwhelming performances weekend after weekend. Rosberg thinks Sargeant will have it difficult, especially alongside Albon.
"So honestly, I think it’s going to be difficult for him to retain that seat for next year, especially because Albon is doing such a phenomenal job."
The German even thinks Albon would be a "dream candidate" for Red Bull. On the other hand, Albon has a long-term contract with Williams where he also seems to be happy and hinted he does not plan to return to Red Bull.
"Albon would also be a dream candidate actually for the Red Bull mother team for next year to replace Sergio Perez but unfortunately, as Helmut Marko was saying, Albon is locked in with a long-term contract there at Williams."
Albon already has one negative experience when he was part of Red Bull racing during a portion of seasons 2019 and 2020. The number 23 driver did not have much experience back then and Red Bull let him go after 17th race of the season.
