AlphaTauri F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo reacted to scoring the best season result for his team during the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

After wanting to rip his shirt off following the Qualifying on Saturday, Ricciardo got another reason to rip it off with the best result for AlphaTauri this season.

The Honey Badger scored seventh place at the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix and gained six precious points for his team in the Constructors' Championship.

The Alphatauri entered the race in Mexico City as the last team in the Championship. However, the six points collected by the Australian lifted the team into the current eighth position in front of Alfa Romeo and Haas.

At one point in the race, it looked like Ricciardo could achieve even more points as he was firmly standing in fifth place, but the red flag and consequent race restart complicated things for him.

The Honey Badger admitted he was a bit upset when he saw the red flags, but he also said it is important to think about other drivers, and thankfully, Kevin Magnussen was okay after his big crash. Ricciardo told the media:

When there’s a big crash, you can’t think too much about yourself obviously. It was good to hear that Kevin was okay, and I heard it was a car failure as well, so out of his control and that’s racing, these things happen and it's the same for everyone.

Ricciardo caught up to the struggling George Russell in the final two laps of the race. However, he needed one or two more laps to overtake the British driver.

"I think we still did well to still grab a top-seven… I think sixth would have been even nicer but to fight a Mercedes at the end of the race – big picture, we have to be very happy."
