Red Bull Racing F1 team principal Christian Horner recently talked about the trajectory of his team with car development for 2026.
Red Bull is the team that hit the best car concept straight from the first year after the regulation change in 2022. This gave the team from Milton Keynes a competitive advantage over its main competitors, who struggle to understand the concept until today.
The chief technical officer Adrian Newey, with his team at Red Bull, created a car that allowed Max Verstappen to dominate Formula One seasons 2022 and 2023 completely.
Red Bull seems to be on a great trajectory to continue its success in 2024 and 2025, but the team is already looking at the big regulation change in 2026.
As Red Bull's team principal, Christian Horner said according to racingnews365.com: "All good things come to an end, that's life." The team principal said about 2026:
"Right now we don't want this season to end. However, 2026 is the next chapter for us and I don't think people understand what kind of challenge we face for that year. It takes away our control a little bit."
Horner revealed Red Bull is already focused on developing chassis and engines for 2026, for which the team will partner with Ford.
"We have two years and the team is fully attacking the new concept. The same goes for the chassis. In a hundred weeks we have to leave the pit lane with a rebellious design and a manufactured engine in the car."
If Red Bull manages to dominate the next two seasons in a similar matter to 2022 and 2024, the expectations set by their fans for 2026 will be extremely high.
"That is nerve-wracking and pleasant at the same time. We are on a good trajectory with great employees and a great culture. I'm already looking forward to it."
