Red Bull Racing F1 driver Max Verstappen was reported to have two bodyguards this weekend during the Mexico City Grand Prix at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
Max Verstappen has been completely dominant this season, not only compared to other teams but also compared to his teammate Sergio Perez.
Verstappen outperformed his Mexican teammate in 16 out of 18 season races so far. Checo played an equal game with Verstappen at the beginning of the season, but things have changed since the Miami Grand Prix.
Perez has performed worse than the Flying Dutchman in the last 14 consecutive races. In the meantime, Verstappen broke the record for the most consecutive wins in F1 history.
The three-time World Champion was booed on the podium after the United States Grand Prix. While he mentioned he does not mind, Glock says, "It's shame for the sport."
Formula One Champion Nico Rosberg said not long time ago the gap between the two Red Bull drivers is "extreme." It might be the voices of more and more F1 experts criticizing Perez that outrage some of the Mexican fans.
Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner said after the race in Austin he is not expecting the "warmest reception in Mexico" for Verstappen.
According to gpblog.com, Red Bull officials have decided Max Verstappen will need protection in Mexico and will be assigned two bodyguards. Helmut Marko revealed ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix.
"Max doesn't actually want it himself and is very relaxed, but we have a responsibility for him. We just want to be safe."
Even though the team decided to take some measures, Christian Horner said after the United States Grand Prix, Red Bull loved racing in Mexico, loves the Mexican fan, the passion, and is looking forward to the race weekend.
