Guenther Steiner said he thinks Lando Norris is more likely to win the 2024 Drivers' Championship title despite the big point gap with Max Verstappen.
The 2024 season is shaping up to possibly have one of the closest and most exciting finishes. With six race weekends and nine races (including sprints) to go before the end of the season, F1 experts are torn on who will win the Championship.
Max Verstappen (who could achieve his fourth consecutive title) leads the provisional Championship standings by 52 points ahead of Norris.
This is a significant margin considering that he could not attend two Grand Prix races and would still be in the lead of the Drivers' Championship.
However, Norris has a faster car, which he demonstrated by finishing the latest race in Singapore more than 20 seconds ahead. If he won every race, Verstappen would have to always finish second, and that would just be enough for the Dutchman to win the title by one point.
So, who is in a better position? The 1996 Champion Damon Hill suggested it is the Red Bull Racing F1 driver, as it is always better to be in the lead.
Nico Rosberg, on the other hand, believes it will be very challenging for the 27-year-old to finish even at least second in every race, while Lando Norris could win them all.
Former team principal of Haas, Guenther Steiner, suggested it's very evenly matched in his opinion. However, he sees the McLaren F1 driver as a slight favorite for the Championship title, considering he might also get help from another team. He told City AM:
"I am 60/40 on who wins the title, but I think it will be Lando Norris [this season]. If he gets a little help from Ferrari, with them not qualifying well, I think he can go out and win."
