Guenther Steiner discussed the relationship between
Christian Horner and Jos Verstappen and suggested the two should "find an agreement."
The
Red Bull Racing team principal has
not been getting along very well this year with the father of his star driver, Max Verstappen, Jos Verstappen.
The team principal has been constantly criticized by the father of the World Champion, who speaks out every now and then about how Horner isn't doing a good enough job.
At the start of the season, Jos Verstappen claimed that
Red Bull would collapse if Horner didn't resign. Since then, important figures like
Adrian Newey (CTO),
Jonathan Wheatley (sporting director), and
Will Courtenay (Head of Race Strategy) announced departures.
Verstappen Sr most recently told Motorsport.com that he warned about what is happening at the moment and that the Red Bull team principal isn't doing anything about this situation: "He glosses over it."
Former F1 team principal Guenther Steiner shared that he was puzzled by how Horner could let the relationship with Verstappen Sr get to this point. He told
GPblog:
"I'm a little bit lost with that one, because normally Christian is seeing these things very good."
"I think he should find an agreement with Jos, that they speak the same language for the sake of helping Max to win the championship, and at the moment they don't help themselves."
"And we know Jos is frustrated, we all know Jos cannot keep his mouth shut. And again I'm not critiquing him for that, but is it the best for his son, I don't know."
"But when you don't know the dynamics internally in the team, it's difficult to say who is wrong and who is right."
"Because I'm not a judge, by the way. so I'm not judging the people, what they say in the press, because it's like, obviously, Jos likes to tell his opinion to people."
"And I think he can do [that] and he will know the consequences of it because he's a smart guy as well."
