Lando Norris returned to the incident with Max Verstappen from Austria during his latest radio appearance ahead of the 2024 British Grand Prix.
With McLaren's incredible rate of improvement since the start of the season, Lando Norris has become a regular challenger for race wins in the last couple of Grand Prix weekends.
As he replaced Charles Leclerc in the second spot in the Drivers' Championship, Norris realized he might have a chance to challenge the triple World Champion Max Verstappen for the title already in 2024.
However, to do that, he knew he had to outperform the 26-year-old by approximately five points on average in every race. That's why the Papaya driver's retirement from the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix was such a huge blow.
Following the race at Red Bull Ring, Verstappen's lead on Norris in the Championship increased to 81 points. This means Norris must outperform Verstappen precisely by more than 6,2 points on average every weekend for the remainder of the season if he wants to win the Championship.
Appearing on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X ahead of his home British Grand Prix, the 24-year-old McLaren driver said:
"In general, I'm feeling good. I'm very excited for the British Grand Prix. At the same time I reviewed everything, we've gone over stuff, and let's say I wouldn't really change what I did. I was fighting, and that's what we want – we want to fight!"
"We don't want to complain, we don't want things to end like they did, both from my Max's side and from my side. So, that's life sometimes."
There was significant tension between Verstappen and Norris following the 11th round of the season in Austria, but the team principal of Red Bull Racing, Christian Horner, revealed the two have already talked to each other since then, so things should presumably be fine between the two. The 24-year-old added:
"We're fighting, we both want to win, and we're going to push it to the limits – some slightly more than others. But yeah, at the same time, I'm excited. We're going to have more fights together, and I look forward to those times."
