Racing driver and Sky F1 pundit Naomi Schiff gave her opinion on Lando Norris and McLaren's team's chances of competing for Grand Prix wins.
Lando Norris has been with McLaren ever since he began racing in Formula One. He has been through many ups and downs with the team but never quite close enough to compete for the Championship.
That Papaya team made significant progress in the 2023 season the 24-year-old reckons the team is in the strongest place it has been in the last 10 years.
It has been five seasons throughout which Norris achieved 13 podiums with his team, but the number four driver is still waiting for his first win in F1.
Sky F1 pundit Naomi Schiff revealed she had a chance to talk to Norris more than once in 2023, and he seemed fully committed to his team as he believes he can win a Championship with McLaren. She said on Sky F1’s end-of-season review:
"I had the chance to sit down with Lando twice this season and he maintains the fact that he will become World Champion with this team. He seems fully committed to them. He wants to win his first race with them and he believes it’s going to happen next season."
The British team, with their British driver, seems to be on the right trajectory going into the 2024 season with the new, latest technology wind tunnel, simulators, and manufacturing unit that will help them with car upgrades.
"Everything shows that that looks like it could be possible. That’s all going to depend on how far down the road Red Bull is going to be."
As Former F1 driver Martin Brundle recently said, it seems like Norris's first win in Formula One is in touching distance. Could we see him on the top step next season? Schiff hopes so:
“But I have some faith that the teams are reining them in and hopefully we will see something papaya on the top step next year."
