George Russell revealed Mercedes is motivated by the fact the team knows and understands all the flaws associated with their current car concept.

While Mercedes finished second in the Constructor's Championship, it is only three points ahead of Scuderia Ferrari and 451 behind Red Bull Racing in the first place.

This is the position that Silver Arrows are not used to after years of dominance. While the team did not get it right with their car concept both in 2022 and 2023, both Mercedes driver and their team principal remain hopeful going into 2024.

Lewis Hamilton lately said he believes his team did not have its North Star for the past two years, but it has now changed, and the team knows what to work towards. His teammate, George Russell, told the media:

"We're taking a clean slate into next year's car. I think that the positive is we're not scratching our heads why we're so far behind Red Bull."

According to Russell, a more positive vibe can be felt inside the Mercedes factory as the team understands all the flaws with the current concept, and there is no wonder they lack so much behind Red Bull.

"We see so many flaws with this car, which gives every single person back at the factory so much motivation and fire to chase after those problems and find those solutions, which we think will make a good step into next year."

F1 team principal Toto Wolff lately said literally almost every single component on the Mercedes car will be changed going into the 2024 season.

The Red Bull Racing team has made a big step forward between the 2022 and 2023 seasons, and Russell is sure the Austrian team is bound to make another step forward before 2024. On the other hand, he believes Mercedes will also be in a stronger position.

"But I expect Red Bull to make a step again. I’ve got no doubt, come Bahrain, we’ll be in a stronger position than we were in Bahrain this year."
