Helmut Marko commented on the ongoing investigation of Christian Horner for his alleged inappropriate behavior.
The first few months of the 2024 season have been full of unexpected news. Just to name a few, we learned that the Spanish Grand Prix will be hosted in Madrid, Guenther Steiner departed from Haas, Lewis Hamilton will be joining Ferrari, and Christian Horner is under investigation.
The team principal of Red Bull has been with his team for 20 years now, and it was expected he would go on for at least a few more years.
However, the 50-year-old's career is now under threat after allegations of inappropriate behavior from one of the female employees of the team from Milton Keynes.
This investigation began 15 days ago (on February 5th), and the conclusion was expected to be reached rather quickly as the season is approaching very fast, with pre-season testing in Bahrain starting tomorrow (February 21st).
But at the time of posting this article, the case still hasn't been concluded, and it isn't even clear how much longer the investigation might carry on.
The advisor of the Austrian team, Helmut Marko, commented on the matter recently. According to motorsport.com, the 80-year-old told ServusTV:
"As you know, this is an internal investigation. The sooner a result is available, the better because of course, rumours and other stories are bound to sprout due to the long duration."
Multiple speculations have indeed spread over the internet during the last few days. One of them that comes from De Telegraaf suggested Horner sent inappropriate messages to the female employee repeatedly and for an extended period of time.
As reported from day one, Red Bull took the situation seriously and assigned an external lawyer to run the investigation to ensure fairness. Marko believes the company reacted "very well."
"[But] I think Red Bull has reacted very well in this matter. The long duration of this investigation is not their fault. They are endeavoring to [have] a fair investigation and then react accordingly."
