Former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan recently revealed he would pick Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc as drivers for his team after 2023.
Eddie Jordan used to own a Formula One team that he named the Jordan Grand Prix. The team competed in F1 between the years 1991 and 2005.
Throughout its history, his team collected 19 podiums and four Grand Prix victories. However, the team does not exist anymore, and Jordan is now only watching F1 from the sidelines.
The 75-year-old gained enough experience throughout his time in F1 to offer valuable opinions when it comes to commentating, and he often appears on TV in the role of an expert.
Asked on the Formula for Success podcast which drivers he would want to have on his team if he still had one after season 2024, the Irishman said:
“"I’m a huge fan of [Charles] Leclerc, I would probably have him in there for sure. Lewis [Hamilton] would be very hard to overlook, that’s for certain. Time and years are not necessarily in his favor."”
The four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel named Leclerc the most successful driver in F1 he came across in his 15-year-long career.
Martin Brundle said there is an argument to be made for the Monegasque driver being the fastest in F1 at the moment. Choosing "arguably the fastest driver" is, therefore, a no-brainer for Jordan.
On the other hand, there is Lewis Hamilton, who has proved seven times already he is capable of winning the Championship. But former team owned would aim for younger drivers:
“"But I’d be thinking further down the road. I wouldn’t have [Fernando] Alonso or Lewis in there. I'm going for Leclerc and Lando [Norris]. That would be the team I would like."”
In the end, the Irishman chose Norris as the driver he would like alongside Leclerc. Norris is also considered one of the best drivers with the greatest potential on the grid at the moment. Which drivers would you pick for your team if you were a team owner?
