Interim Team Principal 'Pleased' With Alpine's Progress

Bruno Famin suggested his team made significant progress between the Italian Grand Prix and Las Vegas Grand Prix in the 2023 season.

Alpine's interim F1 team principal Bruno Famin lately shared that the French team is not where they hoped they would be at the end of the 2023 season.

However, the Frenchman noted his team made great progress throughout the season, which was reflected in the difference in results from the Italian Grand Prix to the Las Vegas Grand Prix. According to motorsport.com, he said:

"I think we can see one very good example where I have been very pleased is the Vegas result. Not for the fourth place – okay, we're happy to be fifth in quali (qualifying) and fourth in the race – but by the fact that Monza was very bad, it was a very bad result."

The team principal believes the two tracks - Monza and las Vegas Strip Circuit are very similar in terms of characteristics and therefore it is relevant to compare his team's performances at these two circuits.

"But we took the time to analyze why, what happened, where have we been wrong there, and immediately to propose new things because Vegas was quite similar in some points.

While the French team collected zero points in Italy with one retirement and one P15, the race in Las Vegas resulted in P4 for Esteban Ocon and P11 for Perre Gasly.

"We were at risk in Vegas if we were not doing things. Immediately the team reacted, proposed some aero evolution, developed it, produced it, and we had it on the car. Just in time, but we had it, and it worked. Before it would have been okay, we are 17 in Monza, we are 17.

Famin was especially satisfied with the reaction of his team to the initial bad result at Monza Circuit and the consequent positive reaction which led to a big improvement for the race at Las Vegas Strip Circuit. He added:

"But now we had a very strong reaction and a very positive reaction, and it paid off. The position at the end, the final result is the attitude, which was very good. It's an example of things that already changed.
