Mercedes F1 driver
Lewis Hamilton recently said
Red Bull Racing is not helping its driver
Sergio Perez at all.
Lewis Hamilton is currently third in the Drivers' Championship standings. The seven-time World Champion is the main threat to Sergio Perez in the second place.
While
Max Verstappen has shown how fast the Red Bull car can be, winning 15 races this season,
Checo has had a tougher time getting used to the car.
Red Bull team is in a tough spot where, on one hand, they have a driver who is consistently delivering outstanding performances, and on the other hand, they have a driver who says he does "not feel comfortable" in the car.
The team principal,
Christian Horner, has been both supporting and putting pressure on the Mexican driver at the same time. In his interview with Mexican newspaper Esto, Lewis Hamilton said in relation to the situation:
"I think his team is not helping him at all. I know that Red Bull is made up of many members, but there are people who affect it psychologically and do not support."
An example of the negative support could be
Helmut Marko, who already publicly said Perez "
needs change in climate and team." Hamilton views this as a very complicated environment.
"If I heard such negative, it would be very difficult. So he is in a very complicated environment for him, but I think he knows how to deal with it."
On the other side of things, the seven-time World Champion highlighted the ability to recover and keep trying which is unique for the Red Bull driver.
"This is a very demanding sport. But what I can highlight most about Sergio PĂ©rez is that he always recovers, gets up and keeps trying."
The 38-year-old knows how it feels to be motivated by a cheering home crowd. This week's race in
Mexico City might be exactly what Sergio Perez needs to find his form.
"Something I can assure is that Mexico is going to show itself this weekend and maybe that. When I was at Silverstone, I was very motivated, and it will surely be something that will happen to him."
