In one of his latest interviews, former F1 driver Paul di Resta discussed Lewis Hamilton's move to Ferrari ahead of the season 2024.
Lewis Hamilton going to Ferrari? If someone claimed before 2024 that it would happen, nobody would believe it. Yet, it will become reality in 2025 when the seven-time World Champion will drive his first season for the red.
This news took over the headlines of all major news outlets, and almost everyone that is somehow relevant in the world of F1 has already reacted to it.
Paul di Resta shared his opinion as he said winning the title with Ferrari would rubber stamp what is already an incredible career for the 39-year-old.
However, there is one problem in the way of the seven-time World Champion, even if Ferrari had the fastest car on the grid in 2025 and 2026, and that is his future teammate Charles Leclerc. Di Resta told sport.de:
"He’s obviously got to get on top of Charles as well, who has obviously [been] part of that family a long time, and very much got the family around him. But I’m excited to see it. It could be box office."
The 26-year-old has been with Scuderia for five seasons already, and it will be six by the time Hamilton joins. Familiarity with the team, the environment, and the car plays a more significant role than one would imagine.
That by itself should give the Monegasque driver an advantage, at least in 2025. Moreover, he is considered to be one of the fastest, if not the fastest driver on the grid at the moment and a future World Champion in the making.
To win the title, the seven-time World Champion will, of course, need to beat his teammate as well. Do you believe he will be able to do it?
