During yesterday's W15 launch that he attended, Lewis Hamilton said that the last couple of weeks have been emotional,
Lewis Hamilton made the decision that many drivers dream about for their whole careers and will be joining Ferrari from the start of the season 2025.
Many former and current F1 drivers commented on this move, expressing admiration and respect for the decision that the seven-time World Champion has made.
However, quite a few fans who do not have a driver's perspective have mixed feelings about it. Social media is currently full of comments concerning the 39-year-old's move.
In his Instagram post explaining his position, the Mercedes driver mentioned that he had received an incredible amount of support. Nevertheless, he has made a very hard decision.
As a consequence, the 39-year-old had to hold numerous challenging discussions with people like his team principal, Toto Wolff, who counted on him at least until the end of the season 2025.
Asked about how recent few weeks ahead of the launch have been, the seven-time World Champion said as quoted by Sky Sports:
"It's obviously been emotional. It's very surreal to be here, given I came in 2013, so 11 years with the team, starting my 12th."
The 12th season that he will finish with Mercedes will also be a record-breaking season because there has been no driver before Hamilton that would stay with a single team for such a long period of time.
This stat only highlights how challenging the decision to leave must have been for the Briton. However, he has to focus on the present as the next season starts with testing days in Brahrain in less than six days. In relation to the newly launched W15, Hamilton added:
"This is the first time I have seen the car come together as a whole but to know everything that's underneath the hood, which people won't get to see but George and I will experience on the track, it's exciting."
