Scuderia Ferrari revealed the name of their 2024 challenger on their social media 13 days before the official launch.
Some teams in Formula One find a naming convention for their cars and stay true to it. A good example is Mercedes, which started with W01 in 2010, and in 2024, their car will be named W15.
Ferrari, on the other hand, changes the names of their cars quite often. Over the years, the team has chosen names for their challengers based on various circumstances.
Last year, the Ferrari car was called SF-23, which stands for Scuderia Ferrari 2023. In 2022, Ferrari cars were called F1-75 as they marked 75 years since the first Ferrari.
In 2020, Ferrari ran their 1000th F1 race, so their cars were called F1000. In 2019, the Italian team celebrated its 90th anniversary, and so the car was named SF90.
You get the point; the Prancing Horse likes to choose their names based on various factors. That is why it wasn't clear until the announcement what the new name of the Ferrari's 2024 car will be.
Two days ago, the team finally announced the name. This year, Ferrari's car will be referred to as SF-24, which will follow the same naming convention as we've seen the previous season.

What can we expect from the SF-24?

Ferrari was clear about the fact their only ambition was to compete for the title. Unsatisfied with their previous car (SF-23), the team principal warned about significant changes.
Fred Vasseur told the media that Scuderia would be changing 95% of their car from the previous season. Just how visible these changes will be remains to be seen.
Ferrari was one of the main Red Bull contenders, mainly towards the end of the 2023 season. It is believed to be one of the most probable threats to the team from Milton Keynes this year as well.
