Many people ask what keeps
Lewis Hamilton going at the age of 38 after having achieved so much in his career, and the
Mercedes driver gave an answer in a recent interview.
Lewis Hamilton is one of the two seven-time World Champions in the history of the sport. The Mercedes driver has more wins, more poles, and more podiums than anybody in F1.
He also has a lot of hobbies outside of the sport and has reached an age in which most of drivers tend to retire, so many people ask: Who does he keep going?
The seven-time World Champion answered this question recently as he explained he keeps chasing the most amazing feeling of standing on the top step of the podium.
"It's the dream of standing on the top step, seeing your team. One of the most amazing things is being able to look back and having the flag of the nation rising behind you, and seeing the team."
Hamilton was for a long time the only driver to win a Grand Prix race in every single season of his career in Formula 1, but his streak stopped at the season 2022 and he hasn't won a single race since then. He continued:
"I remember the first win I had with this team [in Hungary in 2013]. I have a particular picture of 2015 in Australia with the [team] down there in tears – it was just amazing to be a part of that."
The seven-time World Champion stated this season, his
next win in F1 will be the greatest achievement in his career. One more thing that keeps Hamilton hungry is the goal of achieving his eighth title.
"The power of that is a huge part of the drive. Winning the world championship is a huge part of the drive."
Hamilton almost got the eighth World Championship title in 2021, but lost it during the final lap of the final race of the season. Some say the Mercedes driver would have retired back then had he got the title. What do you think?
