George Russell discussed the difference in driving style between himself and his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton.

The two-season head-to-head score between the Mercedes F1 drivers George Russell and Lewis Hamilton is currently 1:1, with the 25-year-old losing to the seven-time World Champion in 2023.

With two seasons alongside super-successful Hamilton, Russell has had the opportunity to learn from the best and observe the differences in driving style.

Every driver on the F1 grid has his own style, and it is usually not so easy to describe, but teammates have access to all their driving data to learn from what the other one is doing better.

Asked about the differences in style between himself and the seven-time World Champion, Russell said they have similar style with minor differences:

"There's definitely small differences. But the underlying limitations that we have are exactly the same and what we're chasing is exactly the same."

Mercedes teammates have been one of the most equally matched driver duos in F1 during the 2023 season when it came to Qualifications, where the score between the two was 11:11.

The main differences seemed to reveal themselves during races, where Russell would be better on some weekends and Hamilton during others.

On the other hand, Hamilton seemed to have the advantage over his British teammate in most races due to better tire management. Russell continued:

"F1 is so complex with these tires that it does take a lot to change your driving style, how you approach a corner, how you attack the corner to have a substantial impact for good or bad on the tires."

The Grand Prix head-to-head between the two was 15:7 in favor of Hamilton. But Russell was quite unlucky and made a few mistakes during the season that cost some good results. He added:

"We definitely have some driving style differences, which favour me a certain circuits and that favour him at others."
