McLaren Formula One team's CEO Zak Brown recently stated he expects McLaren to get off the blocks in 2024 in a much more comfortable position.
McLaren made a big statement in 2023 with the significant step forward in development they were able to make. In the second half of the season, they collected almost as many points as Ferrari.
The future looks bright for the Papaya team at the moment with strong new recruitments that are now able to start working. The team also has the latest cutting-edge factory equipment they have available for development.
The CEO of the McLaren F1 team, Zak Brown, recently told Sky Sports his current target is to start as high as they finished off last season, as that is something they could build upon.
"We hope to start the season kind of where we finished off. It’ll be interesting to see where everybody starts [in 2024] but we’re feeling good about our development.
Ferrari, Aston Martin, Williams, and Stake have already unveiled their launch dates, but we are still waiting for McLaren to announce the date we will see their 2024 car.
The last launch was not so great for the British team. At the start of 2023, they were not where they wanted to be, and they were open about it already when they unveiled their car.
However, the team made very good progress during last year's season, and the CEO believes they are in a position to have a much stronger start to 2024.
"I think we learned a lot [from 2023] so I anticipate a much stronger start to ’24 than we had in ’23. It’s great to have the driver line-up that we have."
In a recent interview, Max Verstappen revealed he would choose the two exact drivers that McLaren has if he were a team principal. Brown added:
"We look at what we need to be a world championship team again. You’ve got to have two great drivers, and I think we’re comfortable we can tick that box."
