Alpine's spokesperson addressed rumors that emerged over the recent weeks about the potential sale of their F1 team.
Alpine is currently having its worst start to the season since the team was rebranded from Renault. Even considering Renault's years in F1, the French teams have not had such an underwhelming start to the season in terms of results since 1979.
This all happened after a pretty promising start to the new regulations in 2022 when Alpine finished fourth in the Championship.
Alpine is a team with high ambitions that want to compete for the Championship, but in 2023, they fell from P4 to no man's land in P6 in the Championship.
Nevertheless, nobody would expect what followed in 2024. Experts claim Alpine is the worst-performing car on the grid at the moment. They haven't scored a single point ever since the start of the season.
It was also rumored that Renault is reluctant when it comes to investing in the team. Considering everything, it is understandable where the rumors about the potential interest in selling the team come from.
Motorsport.com even suggested Alpine had a condition for anyone interested in buying out the team: they would have to use power units produced by Renault.
These power units were the cornerstone of Alpine's declining performance, so it doesn't look like a very attractive deal for anyone who wants to compete for the Championship.
On the other hand, it seems reasonable that the team would want to ensure security for their staff working at the power unit factory in Viry-Chatillon, France.
However, it doesn't matter because the spokesperson for the French team denied everything, saying, "The rumors and stories about the team being for sale are false. The team is categorically not for sale."
As it stands, the French team is doing their best to recover from the shocking start to the 2024 season that they've had with the next major upgrade.
