Aston Martin F1 driver Fernando Alonso threatened consequences after false rumors spread about his alleged move to Red Bull for the 2024 season.
It has been the main topic of multiple discussions throughout this week whether Alonso could really replace Sergio Perez in Red Bull.
It all came as a result of a rumor coming out of the paddock at the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso now denied rumors about his move to Red Bull, as quoted by motorsport.com:
"It is just rumors, normal paddock rumors, from people that are just trying to make fun of it and gain some followers, and these kinds of things. But I'm not into that game."
The Spanish Matador suggested rumors are not coming from any of the professionals, and he expressed he doesn't feel spreading such misinformation is correct.
"I am not enjoying [it] because even in this room, I appreciate that all of you are journalists, professional people, that have been in F1 for so many years."
Rumors like this may not be so funny for Alonso himself as his team - Aston Martin, might now be questioning his loyalty after reading the news.
"You gain your respect, and this is how it should be. So, all the rumours are coming from people that are not in this room, are just here to make fun and I think it's not funny when they play with anything."
The 42-year-old finished by saying he will make sure there are consequences: "Of course, that's the thing that they are making, but I will make sure that there are consequences."
While Fernando Alonso recently told the media he does not plan to retire soon, the Spanish driver might be getting tired of dealing with the drama around racing.
