Red Bull's Max Verstappen suggested he wouldn't give his younger self any word of advice and explained why.
Max Verstappen is now 26 years old—on December 30th, he will turn 27. He has been in Formula 1 for 9.5 seasons already, won three titles, and amassed an incredible amount of experience.
This experience could have perhaps been useful to his younger self, who joined Formula One when he was only 17 years old and became the youngest F1 driver ever.
Throughout the 9,5 years, the Dutchman made it through some very tough times, which would make for quite a few great advices. However, he suggested he wouldn't tell his younger self anything. He told Formula.hu:
"Honestly, nothing! I think if you always knew what the future holds, or maybe got advice from the future, that would make life incredibly boring. Why? Because it's important to make mistakes sometimes."
Verstappen is currently on his way to winning his fourth consecutive title, and he believes he certainly wouldn't be who he is today had he not endured everything that he has.
Further explaining, the Dutchman shared he would actually never want to know anything about what happens in his future:
"It is also important not to know what the future holds, what the future will look like, what we will achieve, and what we will not. It wouldn't be fun if we knew everything in advance. I wouldn't like it in any case."
"For example, I don't want to know if I will die in 30 years and things like that. When are we going to die? I don't want to know that!"
If the 26-year-old managed to continue delivering win after win (like he does now) over the next few years, he could exceed all the records set by all-time greats of Formula 1.
Will he do it? He doesn't want to know and doesn't think about it. We will only have to wait and watch how this incredibly talented F1 driver's journey develops.
