Former F1 driver and Sky Sports commentator Martin Brundle shared his thoughts on
Max Verstappen's angry radio messages.
Max Verstappen was and continues to be heavily criticized for his radio messages from the 2024
Hungarian Grand Prix, in which he snapped at his engineer, the whole team,
and the stewards.
Everything that could go against the Dutchman in that race has gone against him, and it was clear that he wasn't in a good mood.
His engineer- Gianpiero Lambiase, told Verstappen after the second pit stop that he was pushing his tires too much at the beginning of the stint, to which he responded:
"No mate, don't give me that s***. You guys gave me this s*** strategy, okay? I'm trying to rescue what's left. F***!"
Reflecting on all the radio messages from the
Red Bull Racing team that were aired during the race in Hungary, Martin Brundle suggested that if anyone else spoke to Verstappen as he did to them, they would be fired instantly.
"The team have done some incredible things for him on strategy to win races, to win World Championships, and I kind of imagine when he hit Lewis, imagine if the pit wall pressed the button and went, 'That was rubbish driving Max, sort yourself out. Beep, beep, beep'."
"You know, it would be really odd, and that person would get fired. But it's no different, is it, really?"
The Dutchman might have privately apologized to his team, but if that happened, it wasn't revealed. On the other hand, he did address all those who had to say something about his behavior, saying all his critics could "f*** off." Brundle added:
"I was disappointed with that, with what he did. I don't think you can rinse your team like that in public. Close the door, get back, and understand why they were doing what they were doing."
