Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen previewed the tenth race of the 2024 season at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
The triple World Champion comes to Spain with an increased lead in the Drivers' Championship following the successful 2024 Canadian Grand Prix, where he snatched the victory against the odds.
Before the race in Canada, Verstappen's lead over Charles Leclerc was 31 points, but after the Grand Prix in Montreal, the Dutchman leads the Monegasque driver by a comfortable 56 points.
What's more, the track in Barcelona is expected to suit Red Bull's car much better than the last three venues, so the triple World Champion comes in as a favorite.
Nevertheless, it is going to be challenging three weekends for all F1 teams as the Spanish Grand Prix will be the first race of the European triple header. The 26-year-old said:
"We are back to the European races for a while now and I have been with the team at the factory this week preparing for the Spanish Grand Prix, being the first race of a busy triple header."
"Barcelona will be the first race where I will be debuting my new orange helmet. As a tribute to my fans and all of their support, they are actually featured on helmet and I think the final design looks really cool and detailed."
Verstappen will debut his unique helmet design in Spain, but he will keep it for a couple more following races in Europe, where the grandstands are expected to be packed with his passionate fans. The triple World Champion added:
"I have great memories from the circuit, especially winning my first Formula 1 race there. It has a good mix of high and low-speed corners and we have historically driven well there so hopefully we can maximise the performance of the car this weekend."
"We are aiming to keep the momentum going from Canada, so we are looking forward to racing this weekend and hopefully have some good weather!"
