Red Bull Racing F1 driver Max Verstappen shared his honest thoughts right after securing the fourth title at the Las Vegas Strip Circuit.
After finishing the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix in P5 - ahead of his Championship rival Lando Norris, Max Verstappen secured his fourth consecutive Drivers' Championship title.
The gap in the Championship has now increased to 63 points, and with only two race weekends to go, no one can catch the 27-year-old even if he doesn't participate in the remainder of the season.
The Red Bull Racing driver controlled his pace throughout the whole race and drove super safe in order to bring the title home, only looking at the gap to Norris behind. He said in an interview following the Grand Prix:
"It's been a long season. We started off amazing, cruising almost. We had a tough run, but as a team, we kept it together. We kept working on improvements and pulled it over the line."
The four-time World Champion won seven out of the first ten Grand Prix races, and it looked like he was unbeatable. But it has become much more challenging for him as Red Bull lost its performance advantage.
"Incredibly proud of everyone for what they have done for me. To stand here as a four-time world champion, I never thought it was possible."
"I'm just feeling relieved in a way but also very proud. It was a very challenging season. As a person, it's challenging. I had to be calm."
"I enjoyed last season a lot, but this season taught me a lot of lessons. That makes it very special and a beautiful season."
The Dutchman also joked about his fans, who he said "got spoiled" after watching him win 19 out of 22 Grand Prix races in 2023. In 2024, he has won "only" eight so far.
"It's amazing to see the fans everywhere. They got spoiled last year with all the wins, and they had to wait."
"We've [with Red Bull] been though a lot together, the high we have now is very special. They are pushing flat out to fight for a title. To do that four times in a row is very special."
