Lewis Hamilton is one of the greatest drivers of all time, but he's yet to win a race since 2021 when he chased his eighth World Championship.
At the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the British driver dominated the race from start to finish, recording his 103rd F1 race win, and tying his title rival Max Verstappen on points ahead of the title decider.
Probably every Formula One fan knows how that race ended, as the Dutch driver won after a last-lap overtake, which followed a controversial call by the race director, Michael Masi.
Hamilton missed out on his eighth World Championship, but since then, the 39-year-old also missed out on another win, which would be a record-extending 104th. There are a few reasons for that, mostly the fact that Mercedes car was not able to keep up with the competition.
His teammate, George Russell was able to win a race in 2022, but the German team based in Great Britain failed to occupy the top spot in the past two years except for that one occasion.
But in 2024, Hamilton can return to the top of the podium once again, and there are plenty of reasons why that can happen, but three stand out.

3. Determination

Hamilton's determination is clear. The British driver first seemed to be really surprised by his car's under-performance in 2022, and he seemingly lacked motivation to compete and fight with less-than-ideal car.
However, once the team started to pick up pace in 2023, and the 39-year-old started picking up one podium after another (6 in total in 2023), he started being more and more positive about the team's future.
During his post-race interviews, Hamilton started being more focused on the improvement and the future, rather than disappointment that the team was not able to compete for the World Constructors' Championship.
With 2024 likely being the most competitive season in the past three years for Mercedes, his determination is expected to grow even bigger, and the hunger for victory with it.

2. Mercedes Improvements

Mercedes really struggled during the 2022 season, but they visibly improved in 2023, and in 2024, the car is supposed to be even better.
In 2023, it became clear that the UK-based team wanted to focus on their 2024 car as soon as possible, since they were not used to picking up second places in their most recent history.
That's why Mercedes could be one of the teams to challenge Red Bull in 2024, and since the team is "not used to collecting second places" neither is Hamilton.

1. Win-Only Mindset

In 2023, it was more than clear that Hamilton wanted to win a race. At times, it seemed that he didn't really care if he finished second or 20th, as the Brit wanted to end the two-year wait.
Mercedes often chose an alternative strategy, which often paid off, and when they came close to winning in Singapore and achieving 1-2, they couldn't overtake the two drivers in front of them on worn tires.
Regardless, Hamilton and Mercedes are clearly targeting a race win, and that's something that may pay off in one of the races, and the seven-time World Champion will again stand where he certainly belongs, and where he stood already 103 times in his career.
