Williams F1 driver Alex Albon evaluated his team's chances for the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix at Las Vegas Strip Circuit.
As mentioned everywhere throughout the last two weeks. The Las Vegas Grand Prix is expected to be a huge show. However, the question has been raised whether the race itself will be worth it.
The Las Vegas Strip Circuit is dominated by long straights with not too many technical parts that would make it challenging for F1 drivers.
Former F1 driver Pedro De La Rosa recently rated this Las Vegas Strip circuit as an easy track for drivers. However, it will be new for everybody, which might shake things up a bit.
Williams driver Alex Albon hopes to score big in Las Vegas as he expects the circuit to suit his Williams car in terms of the layout. He told the media ahead of the Grand Prix weekend:
"The stars should hopefully align. It's a track that should suit us in terms of its layout, but it should also suit us in terms of its temperatures."
Low temperatures are expected to be a problem, mainly in the Qualifying on Saturday. The tires must have an ideal warm temperature for a driver to score the best lap, and cool conditions will complicate the situation for many. Albon elaborated:
"Qualifying is going to be a real big interest for everyone to try to get tires to work in that temperature. That really won't be easy, but that suits us much more."
The Williams driver thinks overtaking will be easy for drivers at the Las Vegas Strip circuit, so fans can look forward to seeing many overtakes in the race.
"The straights are absolutely massive. In Vegas, especially coming out of the last corner into Turn 1, it's a corner that's not that hard to stay close. I think you'll get quite a lot of overtaking on this track. I hope it's not too easy, but I don't think so."
