Dutch analyst and professional racing driver Tom Coronel stated that Daniel Ricciardo will never succeed as an F1 driver but identified a new "ideal" role for him.

VCARB Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo was already under some heat earlier in the season when 1997 Champion Jacques Villeneuve slammed him and suggested he didn't belong in Formula 1.

This happened during the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix weekend, and the Honey Badger responded best by scoring a P8 (an excellent result for his team).

However, that doesn't change the fact that he is currently still losing the head-to-head battle to his RB teammate, Yuki Tsunoda, whom he was supposed to beat if he wanted a chance at Red Bull.

Dutch analyst Tom Coronel acknowledged that the 34-year-old's comeback to the Red Bull family is a nice story, but he told Formule1.nl that Ricciardo "just doesn't get it anymore."

"A few years ago, when Daniel Ricciardo left Red Bull and went for the money at Renault, I already knew it. He chose the dough and not his racing heart."
"It’s a nice story, the Ricciardo 2.0 who has learned from his mistakes – blah, blah, blah – but he just doesn’t get it anymore."

The Dutch analyst is sure the 35-year-old Australian driver is "never going to succeed again." However, he proposed a new role that he believes would be more than suitable for Ricciardo.

"He didn’t succeed at McLaren, he didn’t succeed at AlphaTauri, and he’s never going to succeed again. Be honest with yourself. He is an ideal motorsport co-commentator or analyst. He is funny, has flair, and can handle anything well."
"Go and enjoy that, but stop doing Formula 1. And at a training team, he has no business at all anyway. Formula 1 is the class for the world’s top-20 drivers and he hasn’t been part of that for a long time."
