Recent reports suggest that RB driver Daniel Ricciardo might be in danger of losing his seat in F1 as soon as after the summer break of 2024.
Red Bull's motorsport advisor, Helmut Marko, who has a big say over who gets to drive for Red Bull and RB (Red Bull-owned 2nd team), recently revealed what the plans were when they initially signed Daniel Ricciardo in 2023.
Red Bull thought and hoped that the Australian driver would step up in the Racing Bulls team, show his qualities and that he has what it takes to be promoted to Red Bull (where he could have potentially replaced Sergio Perez).
However, the problem is that the 34-year-old driver had a very tough start to the season and didn't even outperform his teammate Yuki Tsunoda, who clearly had the upper hand for most of the first few races.
Consequently, the Milton Keynes team decided to extend Perez's contract. Now that those doors have closed for the Honey Badger, RB seems to be his best bet.
But Red Bull's motorsport advisor revealed another problem. Apparently, the team shareholders want RB to be a junior team with at least one junior driver.
Yuki Tsunoda has already signed his deal for 2025, and Ricciardo is far from being a junior, with his 250th Grand Prix start during the 2024 Austrian Grand Prix.
Red Bull already has one very talented driver- Liam Lawson in line, waiting for his opportunity, and it seems he might be the one who could take over Ricciardo's seat very soon.
F1TV reporter Lawrence Barretto reported after the 11th round of the season in Austria that rumors swirling around the paddock suggest the Honey Badger is definitely in threat and could be replaced during the summer break.

"Lots of chatter re: Daniel Ricciardo's future in Austria after Helmut Marko's comments that RB should have a young driver in the car soon. My sources say Ricciardo isn't under threat of losing his seat midseason and will be given the time to prove he can be fast consistently."
