Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner said he does not think his team will ever be able to repeat the 2023 kind of success.
The 2023 season will go down as one of the most successful seasons for the Red Bull Racing team forever. The team has had its period of dominance in between seasons 2010 and 2013, but not quite like the 2023 season.
Some of the basic stats for this season include first place in Constructors' and a one-two in Drivers' Championships. However, Red Bull has achieved much more than that in 2023.
The team has won 21/22 races of the season, almost completing a clean sweep, and with Max Verstappen, the team broke numerous incredible records.
On the other hand, Red Bull's F1 team principal Christian Horner remains conservative with 2024 predictions saying we have seen teams losing dominance from season to season. He told the media:
"We saw that in 2020 with Mercedes. If you remember, that was their most dominant year ever and yet, we were able to beat them in '21."
Red Bull did not beat Mercedes in the Constructors' Championship in 2021, however, they ended the Drivers' Championship title winning streak of Lewis Hamilton. Horner expects Red Bull's competitors to close the gap.
"There is a subtle rule change but I think that nothing stands still. We've seen competitors coming closer at different venues and I'm sure concepts will converge."
Unfortunately for fans of the Austrian team, Horner said he does not think the 2023 success is replicable in upcoming seasons.
"I don't think we'll ever be able to repeat the season that we've had, but hopefully, we can take the lessons from RB19 and apply them to [RB]20 and come up with a car that we can defend these titles with."
On the other hand, Red Bull stopped bringing upgrades to RB19 in the middle of the season, which suggests the team spent more time focusing on developing next year's car, which might give the Austrian team an advantage at the start of 2024.
