Antonio Perez - the father of the Red Bull driver Sergio Perez, commented on the situation between Checo and his team.
Sergio Perez continues to struggle with his performances as he had to retire from the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix after the first lap collision with Charles Leclerc.
The Mexican driver achieved a total of 17 points in the last four race weekends, two of which included sprint races. Red Bull made it clear the team wants Perez to achieve the second position in the Dirvers' Championship.
However, the pressure seems to hurt Perez. The 33-year-old keeps making mistakes, for example, causing a collision with Kevin Magnussen during the Japanese Grand Prix.
In Qatar, Perez collected only one point for too many track limit penalties, and in the most recent race, he caused the collision and put himself out of the race.
While Horner denied rumors about the potential split between Perez and Red Bull, it might be something that the team will have to look into if Perez does not improve his performance.
Perez's father, Antonio, also responded to the rumors concerning Checo separating ways with Red Bull for season 2024 when he told Sky Germany.
"Of course, Checo will be driving with Red Bull next year. The Perez Family and the Red Bull Family are one."
When speaking to Sky Italia, Perez's father showed confidence in his son ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez:
"How do I see him on the weekend at his home Grand Prix? He always has the same approach and only needs one thing: to win."
Antonio Perez suggested Checo has the mentality of a Champion. He also mentioned Helmut Marko (who recently said Perez needs a change in climate and team) is the best teacher of Sergio.
"He has the mentality of a champion. Checo, Verstappen and Red Bull are a family, but they all work for success. He [Marko] is the best teacher for Sergio."
Sergio Perez can still prove his mentality of champion and that he is worthy of the Red Bull seat in the three remaining racing weekends of the season.
