Sergio Perez addressed the ever-increasing number of rumors that suggested that Red Bull would consider his replacement soon.
Ever since signing a contract extension with the team from Milton Keynes, Sergio Perez has not had a single decent race weekend.
Perez's best finishing position in the last six races was P7, and he hasn't even finished inside the top 10 three times (including the most recent race at Silverstone).
Red Bull is slowly losing ground in the Constructors' Championship, and they need their second driver to start delivering more points as soon as possible.
Red Bull's team principal, Christian Horner, warned that Perez's current form is "unsustainable," and the team's advisor, Helmut Marko, said the team will reconsider its options during the upcoming summer break.
As a result, more and more rumors started emerging over the recent couple of weeks, suggesting that the Austrian team is already deciding on which driver could be the best option to replace the 34-year-old:
However, speaking to the media before the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix- the penultimate race before the summer break, Perez dismissed the speculations about the potential replacement.
"There's nothing related to that. Obviously I cannot talk about my contract. What I said was the next two races are important for me. I want to go on holiday with a good spirit, and I think it's good for my side of the garage to go with a good spirit."
When Checo said that the next two races are important to him, it was also interpreted as him suggesting that his future in F1 might depend on them, but he clarified it wasn't anything like that, as he confidently added he will be there even in 2025:
"I wasn't talking about anything else. I'm fully focused to fully deliver. I will be here and here again next year, and that's nothing different. I'm just fully committed to myself."
