McLaren F1 driver Lando Norris addressed Red Bull speculations during an interview for media ahead of the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix.
Red Bull has had a dominant car throughout the majority of the 2022 season and the whole 2023 season. Max Verstappen has been able to make the most of it, breaking a record for the most consecutive races (10) in Formula One history during the Grand Prix.
On the other hand, Sergio Perez has been lacking the pace to compete with Max Verstappen ever since his last win during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Perez has been making too many mistakes, while Verstappen collected almost twice as many points for the championship (Verstappen - 400, Perez - 223).
The lack of pace in the hands of the Mexican driver has made many people speculate if Red Bull will want to keep him for the 2024 season. One of the most suitable options for the second Red Bull seat is Verstappen's great friend and McLaren driver Lando Norris, who addressed the situation recently when he told the media:
“I would love to [talk about a new McLaren deal], I've always said I want to win with McLaren. I think we're getting closer and closer to achieving that. And not just to win races, but win championships, both driver and constructor. I want to do it with McLaren. I'm very happy there."
Norris has been faithful to McLaren ever since his first Formula One race in 2019. The number 4 driver has signed a four-year contract ahead of the 2022 season that lasts until the end of season 2025.
The Brit seems to be satisfied with his position in the McLaren team, saying he is very much concentrated on the present performances.
"So, if I was to spend 10 or 15 years there, I'm not going to ever say no. I think that's something I would look forward to. But I’m very much just concentrated on this year, next year, and ’25. I think that’s two and a half years to try and progress and we'll see then. But things [crop up] every now and then but nothing more than that."
