In a recent interview, Lando Norris revealed his opinion on the rumor, saying that Red Bull designs their car to suit Max Verstappen.
Red Bull team has dominated the 2023 Formula One season with 14 consecutive race wins up until the Singapore Grand Prix. The team from Milton Keynes has already secured the Constructor's Championship after the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka Circuit.
However, almost two-thirds of the points scored by the team were scored by Max Verstappen. The flying Dutchman has dominated not only over other teams but also over his teammate Sergio Perez by breaking a record for the most consecutive wins (10).
Verstappen has beaten multiple teammates at Red Bull in the past, so it seems the car suits him very well compared to other drivers. People like Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff have mentioned that Red Bull designs their car around the two-time World Champion.
In a recent interview for Racingnews365, Lando Norris shared his perspective on the matter. Norris did not seem to agree with statements claiming that the car was built to suit Verstappen. He hinted it's more about the adaptability of the driver.
"I don't think you can just design a car for someone It just doesn't work like that. It's very much down to the driver to drive the car they’re given."
The number 4 driver elaborated on the fact that all of the 20 drivers on the grid are professional drivers. These drivers are paid to perform in "whatever car they are given" in whatever the current circumstances are.
"I think what people fail to understand sometimes from the outside is that a driver's job is to drive whatever car they are given as quickly as possible Yes, you want the car to be nice to you and suit you. But drivers get they get paid enough money to make the best of every circumstance."
