McLaren F1 driver Lando Norris recently talked about the upsides and downsides of the enormous public exposure that F1 drivers face.
Formula One signed a deal with Netflix to give the streaming platform exclusive behind-scenes access to F1 teams and their drivers.
You can watch the show about Formula One on Netflix under the name "Drive to Survive." Every series documents a new season ever since 2018.
The series has been a great factor in the growing popularity of the drivers and the sport but has received criticism for dramatizing scenarios for entertainment purposes.
Lando Norris told RacingNews365: "I watched, I think, the first episode I was ever in, which was end of Season 1 and that was it."
The McLaren driver also expressed disagreement with how the series adds flavor to specific events and quotes to make them more dramatic.
"That was all I saw. The thing is, when you know everything that goes on, it's nice when they make you look good but then sometimes they also make you look bad."
According to autosport.com, Max Verstappen refused to take part in interviews for Drive To Survive season 4 because the series faked stories that just were not true. Norris added:
"It's like the real truth at the end of the day. It's still a show, it's to entertain people. It's not there to provide maybe the most honest things about everything."
The 24-year-old said he would not mind if the Formula One wouldn't get televised. On the other hand, the McLaren driver recognizes the business side of things:
"I love Formula 1 because I love to drive and compete against these guys and race and do all of that stuff. And even since I've started, the media has risen a lot more, but in the business world, it probably makes sense because there's more money and all of those things, and that's normally how it works."
