Lando Norris has recently signed a contract extension with McLaren, and the 24-year-old is 'convinced' he can succeed with the team.

The young Brit has had a really great career so far, however, he's still yet to win an F1 race, despite coming close a few times. Norris stood on the podium 13 times, but never on the highest step.

After he recently signed a contract extension with McLaren beyond the 2025 season, and that means that he must fully trust the team, as his ambitions are certainly high, as he's undoubtedly one of the most talented drivers of his generation.

But Norris doesn't target only race wins, he wants championships. And he doesn't want one just for himself, but also for this team, and that's why he told media after signing his new contract, that he's convinced that he can achieve it with McLaren.

"It’s both the team’s goal and also just a personal goal that I’ve always had. Am I convinced I’m capable of doing it? Yes. Am I convinced the team is capable of doing it? Yes."

At the start of the 2023 season, things were not looking good for the British team, and many started discussing whether Norris should change teams to achieve the success that he seems to be destined to achieve.

However, mid-way through the last season, McLaren managed to completely turn around their season, as both Norris and his teammate, Oscar Piastri, started collecting one podium after another.

According to the British driver, the fact that he signed the contract extension is not based on the fact that they managed to turn their last season around, but because of an overall work ethic that he sees around the team.

"I don’t think it’s just last year and how we turned things around, I don’t think that’s the only thing I would say that’s convinced me more. It’s just everything that goes on day to day, the people that are here, the work ethic, the mentality, the approach to everything."
