Lando Norris will be staying with McLaren Racing for many more seasons as he extended his contract beyond the 2025 season.
Only one day after Charles Leclerc extended his contract with Ferrari, another F1 driver committed to his team for a longer period, as Norris will be staying with McLaren for many more seasons.
The team announced the news on Friday, January 26th, 2024, with a slogan: "Here to stay". The British driver has been one of the most talented drivers to race in a McLaren in recent seasons, and it's not surprising that the team wants to keep him for seasons to come.
With the latest contract extension, it's clear that the 24-year-old will race alongside Oscar Piastri unless until the end of the 2026 season, even though it was not disclosed until when does Norris' new contract last.
The British driver was happy to commit to papaya team, and despite the "ups and downs" on their journey, he believes that McLaren can compete for race wins in the coming seasons, and he will try to be the one, who will lead them.
"It’s a great feeling to be staying in papaya. I’ve grown up with McLaren and feel at home here, the team are like family to me. The journey so far has been exciting, we’ve had ups and downs, but last season showed our desire to get back to competing at the front of the grid."
For Norris, it's important not only to have a good car but also a good team behind him. That's why he has particularly enjoyed working with Zak Brown and Andrea Stella, who have led the team in the past seasons.
"The work Zak, Andrea and the whole team have put in over the last year has been incredible and I’m confident in challenging for wins with McLaren. I’m excited to create more amazing memories and continue working hard with everyone at MTC for the next few years."
