Charles Leclerc and Ferrari will continue working together beyond the 2024 F1 season after they reached an agreement over a contract extension.
Since the end of the 2023 season, the contract extension of the Ferrari drivers has been discussed nearly every week, however, the team from Maranello was not in a rush to extend the contracts.
With the 2024 season approaching, many started wondering whether there was anything obstructing the contracts from being extended, but now, the Monegasque driver officially signed with the Italian team beyond the 2024 season.
Leclerc is the driver that Ferrari wants to build on, as he's been one of the most talented drivers that drove for the red team over the past few seasons, and once they are able to build a competitive car, he may be the man to challenge for the World Championship.
So far, his best-ever result came during the 2022 season, when Leclerc finished second in the World Drivers' Championship, 146 points behind Max Verstappen.
So far, the 26-year-old managed to win five races in his career, all in Ferrari, and he's looking to add more with the Italian team.
The team announced the news on their social media platforms, with Leclerc also sharing a video to mark the occasion, with a clear slogan marking his contract extension: "The Dream Continues."
As of now, it's not clear for how many more season Leclerc extended his contract, as currently, the team only announced extension "beyond the 2024 season" but more details should come soon, as the Monegasque driver is expected to get a long contract, possibly a five-year extension.
In 2024, he will be driving alongside Carlos Sainz, who still has a valid contract, but the Spanish driver is expected to leave the team sooner than Leclerc, most expectedly when Audi joins Formula One.
